Periodontics
Periodontics is a branch of the medical-surgical dentistry speciality that studies the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions that affect the tissues that support the dental organs (gingiva, periodontal ligament, root cementum and alveolar bone) and the implanted substitutes, for the maintenance of health, function and beauty of the teeth and their adjacent tissues.
Periodontal diseases are diseases of the gums.
Failure to remove tartar from the mouth leads to the development of bacteria plaques that can accumulate under the gum. The gums become inflamed due to the infection and a disease called gingivitis occurs.
If gingivitis is not treated properly or in time, it may worsen into periodontitis, the most serious form of periodontal disease.
For this type of disease, we have specific treatments at our Clinic. The main reason why periodontal diseases occur is due to poor hygiene.
To avoid these diseases it is necessary to carry out a constant and adequate dental cleaning with a toothbrush, dental floss and mouthwash. In addition, regular visits to the dentist and the hygienist help to prevent the appearance of the onset of oral diseases.
